OK I had my tax renewal for the blade yesterday. I can get the tax before the end of the month as it's due to start in Feb. No issue there. But it does remind me the bikes due for the first MOT from the 16th Feb My question: I don't intend to use the blade until "from" March if we have dry weather. and I have another eye op due mid feb as well on my other eye. So if I tax the bike (it's insured of course). can I just keep the bike safe in the garage until I book the service and MOT in March time?
So it it's due mid Feb and no on the road no insurance? the first time it will go out would be to get the service and MOT done
Mine says that the insurance is only valid with an in date Mot and tax on the vehicle. My garage is far from Fort Knox so I'm playing safe and renewed insurance last week for the year
A few things here, if you have a booked MOT, you can take your bike/car on the public highway to the testing station without a current MOT. If the tax is dependant on obtaining an MOT, then it gets sorta murky, throw in the insurance brigade, then they will look at your life history, your parents and anyone else's they can dig up (dead or alive) to invalidate a claim. So as above, without an MOT then you will find most insurers will invalidate your policy. Lets be honest, a good many of us have run without MOT's either through poor memory or on purpose, and its only an issue if something goes wrong......and s**t happens when you least expect it.
I will be getting the tax before the Mot is due so thats sorted. and as you said the bike won't be run until I book it in for a service and MOT.
If it's covered on the house insurance while uninsured then fine as you can claim if it is stolen otherwise you get nada
Why sorn it, £78 for 12 months us fine and I'll only miss out on 1 month. My cars cost me much more but are always taxed. That's not the issue but leaving the mot is
I never said I wouldn't. Just "ok thanks" But if taxing the bike instead of putting it Sorn means the bike will not be covered by insurance until I get it MOT'ed then that would probably be a big reason why not
