Bikes gonna be 3 years old shortly and due its first MOT. I've got the baffle for the exhaust at hand and the sticky on reflector for the rear number plate, but am wondering about the chain guard. Does anyone know if it's a requirement that one is fitted for the MOT?

No I don't believe so. Certainly I had no problems last year but they were particular about the baffle and reflector!

Regarding the chain guard, I wouldnt think so Ross. The sticky on reflectors? Not a requirement either so you'll be ok. Honda dealer last year didnt mentioned anything. The baffle though is an issue - do not forget! Good luck

It all depends where you go. A reflector is a requirement. I have had several bikes fitted with baffle free Racefit Exhausts and have no problems getting the MOT.

On the OEM plate hanger there is a reflector, I'm guessing you have an after market tail tidy.

Cheers guys. The test centre I've always used on previous bikes have been fine about exhausts but i'll stick the baffle in anyway as it's a 1 min job. The sticky reflector I've got came from them as they put it on a previous bike that had a tail tidy fitted so it didn't fail. I just take it off and put the plastic film back on the sticky pad after MOT,i've had it about 6 years now. Us Scots are tight you know:D
It was the chain guard I was concerned about but not any more:)

On the reflector if the tester is having a bad day he can fail you for having it on the corner of the plate it has to be central

from the info simon posted rear reflector is only necessary if the bike has no positioning light i.e. tail light which your does
