My left fork tube is slightly wet on my '04 blade. Not dripping but wet. As i have spend more than i can the past two months being in debt now getting this bike on the road i really have nothing more to spend for the next 8 months at least. Whether it is going to work or not its my one and only chance to just maybe get a temporary fix . My best gamble i reckon is to try my best to clean the seal. I have read this can be done using a thin plastic material i just want to run the procedure by anyone who has tried it on a blade ? Mine a 2005 model. 1st On the upside down fork. Can i leave the bike on the sidestand or rear stand when doing this ? I dont have a front stand. If it would be ok to leave the bike with the fork on the bike while doing this ? 2nd. So the idea is to remove the dust seal with a flat screwdriver. Then i reckon with the bike's own weight on the fork the stopper ring and seal will be somewhat higher up ? 3rd Should i just leave the stopper ring alone and pry my piece of plastic past the stopper ring by feel and into the oil seal or do i have to remove the stopper ring ? 4: will a lot of oil come out when i push the plastic piece inside the oil seal and do a full circle to try and move possible dust/debris out of the way. Does this sound ok ?
You do need to remove the dust seals, just put it on your paddock stand, you can buy these plastic tools cheaply for it. https://www.dirtbikexpress.co.uk/wo...MI_pzxmImN-AIV0Oh3Ch0nXgm5EAQYAyABEgKWKPD_BwE
Ok thanks i will get the tool, on the 1000rr there is a stopper ring below the actual oil seal after removing the dust seal does it need to be removed ? And will it be exposed enough to remove with the bike resting on its fron wheel ?
