Recently purchased a set of Giles rearsets and finally got round to fitting them. Also purchased a Akra can and link pipe which I fitted at the same time.

As secure as it seems (without the bracket for the can) when I went to put the bracket on I cannot for the life of me get it to work.

Are these ok without the bracket? Have I done something wrong? Any suggestions on a fix?

The exhaust should have come with spacers to offset the rearsets, they go between frame and rearsets to help line up the exhaust fitment

Thank you for that. I will have another look as although it may be able to be spaced out, there is quite a difference in the heights for the holes to line up.

I had something similar when I had the yoshi. I remember playing with the link pipe to manipulate the can into the right position. Might be a similar thing?

Yep the 5mm spacers I reckon, and then slide the strap down to line up vertically.

Hi, I've had the same set-up.

You defo need the two spacers for the frame mounts. Would normally come with the fitting kit if you bought the can new. Its a bit of rip off to buy the kit on its own (think about £40 for a bolt, spacers, aluminium bush for the standard exhaust mount and two random zip ties)

I'm just in the process of swapping mine so let me know if you need any pictures.

Mine fitted but the back of the carbon bracket where the bolts goes through was always really close to the swingarm. (that was with an Akra race system but should be the same dimensions.)

Also depending where you have the pegs set can make it a pain in the arse to get to the bolt to take the can off if you need to remove/fit a baffle.

Looking at your picture it looks like the can is low rather than the bracket not being at the correct height, but it might just be the angle.

    Cheers
    Mike

I will have to have another look at it, but I couldn't seem to get the can any higher up. Also am pretty certain I fitted the spacers too (once I figured out what they were for, a used can so didn't have instructions) as they came with the can.

Some pics would be greatly appreciated @TheMickster :)

@Abb if you need some spacers, don’t pay £40. Give me the dimensions and I’ll make you some up and ship them to you. F.O.C of course!

Here’s some pics of mine, they’re already part dismantled.
Mines got race headers and measuring the spacers it’s had larger ones fitted, so not sure if you’ll just need the standard 5mm ones.

This is mine with 5mm spacers (touches swingarm), mine has race headers (don’t know if that makes a difference) and no guarantee the dude who fitted mine got them bang on :)

You are star pal. As they say, a pic says a thousand words. Will tackle this in the coming weeks when I am back from graft.

Just an update on this, incase it assists anyone else. Thank you to the pics provided by @TheMickster I realised the error of my ways! The bracket I have managed to get into position, but once secured, my rearsets are out (where the two M10 bolts go into the frame). I think 10m spacers would resolve this, so @mk3golfcab time to put on your cape! ;)

@Abb I’d suggest using a number of washers first as shims. That way you can best determine the actual spacer thickness required for your arrangement. I mean if @mk3golfcab (lovely chap) is going to make them for you then they can be whatever thickness.
