Agree with Graeme, double sided sticky tape is the best way to go as long as both faces are clean when you stick it on ..... they could hold ships together with the stuff :D

I have never had a problem using Velcro. Industrial strength stuff 2" deep and full width of plate.
    I have not used on a 7 x 5 though

What max speed you had with Velcro? I prefer the plastic bolts myself and Not hard to fit either?

Perhaps he's hoping it will blow off at high speed, just before the speed camera ;)

Mine's velcroed on too. Didn't budge at an indicated 175 mph.

Because a couple of plastic bolts will deter the most determined of thieves won't they :D

Also mine's only ever parked in a locked garage.

I've got nothing against bolts and a drill. I'm just lazy and didn't want to take the time to line it all up and then risk messing up the numberplate by doing it wrong. That actually happened before when I was drilling a plate before. When the drill went through it lifted the printed part away from the plastic plate.

With velcro you just cut a length and stick it on. Hasn't budged. Never looks like it's hanging off. No bolt holes in the plate. If your plate's looking tatty and you want a new one you just get it and stick a new piece of corresponding velcro onto the new plate and bang it on there.
