I want to fit some r&g bungs to my rr6 and I know that means drilling the fairing panels to get to the mounting point, but can anyone tell me if the kit comes with a template or how do I work out exactly where to drill, I'm hoping its not something like chalking the mounting point and seeing where the fairing touches it on the inside.

There's a number of ways, when I did my RR 5 I used an Allen key the same diameter as the hole in the engine mounting bolt, passed it through with a dab of white paint, worked very well for me.

You don't get a template. I unscrewed the engine bolts one at a time, marked them with a dab of paint, refitted the fairing and pushed against the bolt to mark the inside of the fairing. That way you can drill a pilot hole from the inside and check it lines up with the bolt ok before using the big drill.

Alternatively you can use a sanding wheel on a Dremel to widen the hole, applying extra pressure in one direction if the hole is off centre.

As above, small pilot hole to make sure it's central before drilling the larger hole

The latest kits include a pointed head bolt thingy that goes into the main frame engine bolt which then presses against the inside of the fairing and leaves a marked point visible on the outside of the fairing.

You don't need to remove the fairing, just loosen it.

Then CAREFULLY drill a pilot hole from outside to in, once you have a pilot hole then you use a Cone cutter to enlarge the hole to the required size, simpleesssss!

What's to fuck up bar slipping with the Pilot drilling?
