Just bought myself some Gilles rearsets and wanted to know if it is straight forward to fit them. Am ok with a set of spanners but wouldn't know anything on the technical side of things. Guess I want to know is this a DIY job or best left to the professionals? They are used but immaculate and unmarked, however they do not come with instructions.
They are quite straight forward, I have just fitted some to my R1, the instructions won’t be of any use to you being a Yam, but I did not really use them other than for the torque settings. I fitted some Giamoto rearsets to my 17 blade without instructions
If you want the instructions and other documents go here: https://www.gillestooling.com/produkte/ ...and use the contact links. They are awesome and quick to respond. I needed the parts list for some rearsets to order replacement bolts and they were very helpful
Just a general question on rear sets as I've never had. Are they beneficial for short arses, or just more for the long legged types?
They're beneficial for all really. Long legged can lower and move back Shorties can do the opposite It's simply a means to adjust the comfort to suit the rider as opposed to being stuck with Honda's default riding position I personally am happy with the OEM position and I am 6'2"
Cheers @hitch I'm only 5' 7" and a HALF, but I find the position good as well. Knees are in the right place to grip and take the weight off the wrists and I can move about just fine
I tell you!!!! Makes all the difference, it is not insignificant and you wouldn't want it as a wart on the end of your nose
Me too pal, but you know how it is when you work away and look for things to buy! Even when you don't need it!
Yeah, internet can be great but at times it is so easy to get carried away. My credit card bill last month was silly
i 1000% agree with this. I need a racefit growler. It makes it safer. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
