Just brought a CBR 1000RR 2005 model , it's done 40 mins tops from new , was converted to a track bike by previous owner and then he crashed it first time out and it's been parked up ever since. Just coming to an end of repairing it and the vacuum tank for the air flapper system is missing. I've seen there's a mod to remove this anyway and blank off the breather. The bikes only ever going to be used as a track day / race bike so what would you guys recommend. It has a few mods already such as power commander, Full Arrow system etc.... is there any disadvantages in removing this from operation. Thanks. Daz
Hi Darren and welcome. I have a 2004 model but am not technically advance to help with your question. You'll find out soon enough though!!
yes just blank off the breather you don't need the flappers, no disadvantage on removing, especially on a track bike
I have an '07 which in this respect the same as yours, and went through the operation of the inlet flap before disconnecting. It's just there for intake noise reduction. I monitored its movement using a test light. It remains closed from 1800-3500 providing the bike is in gear and the throttle is only opened slowly. Above 3500 it is always open. It only goes fully open or closed. Any sudden opening of the throttle sends it open.
