I'm a little circumspect about disconnecting the flapper valve on a new bike, are we all absolutely sure the purpose of this valve in noise and to keep it open will not affect the engine, fuelling, Ecu etc?
Also is it as easy to do on an abs model?

I just need someone in the know to put my mind at rest.

Honest. No problems. Did mine, not one fault code or issue.

So long as its done correctly ;)

As Gary said, no problems at all.

There's a very good demo on you tube dan, I'm not sure whether it's different on an abs which I would like to know?

It's exhaust that I'm interested in, especially how to do it on an abs model?

Just disconnect the cable and tie it away

What JM1 said or if your going to fit a slip-on, remove cable from servo motor.

Yup, just remove cable fom servo, but be sure to rotate the servo back, otherwise you'll get the mil light on.

I've done it, absolutely no issues providing you leave the servo connected (electrically) I got a fault code when I disconnected the multi plug as well.

Disconnected the cable on mine at the servo end.

Hello Carl, I did this yesterday, on a non abs blade the panel is by the right hand side passenger foot peg, 3 plastic screws that hold it on. Really is a 5 min job.

I didn’t think I would need to do this modification as the stock exhaust has been removed and a Akro can fitted, baffle also removed. I always thought the flapper was located in the OE section that has been replaced! But reading the above and noticing others in their bike profile have “this or that” end can and the flapper modification ! I am getting the wrong end of the stick here? and sorry if I am just being a bit dense.

The flapped has to be disconnected to fit almost any can, but there are a few which keep it operational (eg, a certain model of akrapovic)

Well it's done, 5 minutes that's all, sounds great at low revs, given that it would be fully open at 4000 revs anyway I can't see how it would damage anything?

It doesn't damage anything but made the fueling feel slightly different to me

I like the sound of mine too, I don't need to worry about the mot for two years ten months but just in case I would slip the cable back on!
