Chaps, if anyone has time today, can you look down the ram air air tubes and tell me if the flappers are closed or open on idle? (you can shine a torch in there) Then give it some beans and see if they close/open? I'm trying to work out if they are dictated by any wheel speed censoring from the ECU. I had removed them previously and now put them back (bike back to stock) - but it seems strange to me that they are open on idle - it defies the point of having them?? cheers!
Tbh i haven't looked but far as I knew the newer model used springs to keep them closed Until the vacuum in the diaphragm pulled them open at a set rev. Or it could be the same as a duke, its flap only closes from 1-4k rpm And was ecu controlled.
Stick your cam in there and go for a ride mate, Barron Von Flaps Flaps are sprung open, the vac closes them, but only when the ECU grounds the solenoids, 12v sits on the positive side of them.
weird - i posted this already but nothing came up.. anyway - again: Thanks Gents - Im still interested in actual eyeball tests on rr8-rr11 models - Wedgie - were yours open at idle before you did the flapper mod?
Yeah open at idle and so was my 07 until you stuck it in gear which closed them I'm sure the solenoids only work when in gear I could/might be wrong ?
What did the right pussy flap say to the left flap???? We used to be tight in to some cock come between us
Pretty sure you will not see the flaps opening or closing with the bike on the stand and not in gear; Sure I read someplace they only operate when the bike is in gear above certain revs.
