I'm more impressed with the 5k screen. Dell has just brought out a 5k screen, and the cost is £2k....the new imac is £2k and you get a top imac thrown in..... Seems like a bargain to me..if only they did a matt screen.
Does look impressive! Makes me wince when I think I paid nearly £3K for the PC I'm on now 2 years ago! Another Pissed up purchase late one night, full on Gaming PC with a Water Cooled processor, Samco hoses the lot! Don't even play games...............................
Just done the Yosemite on my MBP. Not overly keen on the look but liking the look of this new 5k retina iMac
I'm just downloading it, I'm not sure why Apple have to make it look cheap and like a kids toy but hay.. I've backed the sucker up with time mechiene so what's to loose... :S
Seems faster than the last one. Looks are a bit comedy, but works well. imagine the 5d3 files on that 5k screen Arthur!! Whoaaaaa....niiiice! Perfect for for editing the RAW files dude!
Except you can't use it as a standalone screen. Not enough bandwidth on TB1.2 connector. Needs 1.3 which isn't available yet. H
Yeah so I read! Nice screen though, Si thanks for the advice re buying but I am well spent out haha Well I upgraded my MBPR after some hours, had to hard boot it as it seem to be stuck for well over an hour on the Apple screen with progress bar at 1/4, rebooted ok and gave a quick shut down message, very quick look and not tried no software but folders seem to have more snap to them, fingers crossed not too many worms in my Apple
I'm at work, so can't upgrade mine till later. I'm going to do my old (2010) MBP before any of my others that I actually use for work... H
Mine seems ok (on it now), seems slick but then always was, icons are odd, Safari is odd...generally its all odd, but so far good odd...haha This MBPR is dual boot, not tried it since the update but sure its fine, Windows is extra crap on the Mac anyway haha

Yeah. The main aim seems to be to make everything quite plain in order that the transparency makes it look cool... Rather than the skeumorphic look it had previously. You can also reduce transparency (Not sure if that's graduated or just opaque) and enable a hi contrast mode that according to the shots on arstechnicia seems to look a lot better... But that may simply be wishful thinking H
Had a play with the new 5k display iMac today...took an sd card to have a look at the images on it... It's the best screen i have ever seen.... absolutely brilliant for photo and video editing. And it's fast as hell too.
