For Si. Photography on the move.*

A nice title, I thought of it all by my self.*
I know there are endless threads dotted around the forum regarding luggage and tank bags.*
I'm putting this here though, mainly because a forum member (Si) wanted to see how I'm intending to travel around with my camera whilst out on the Blade.*
I'll try to pass as much information without my usual drivel.*
For those of you who know me, that's a mammoth task.*

    The camera cannon DSLR 650D
    Extra lens 75x300
Fitted into Tank bag Givi T489, the conglomeration in view at the back of the tank bag is my power unit, this is for the TomTom, IPhone, Video camera, if needs be? The camera.*

I picked up on the chamois idea from listening around the forum. It's good for wrapping and cleaning the camera body and lens.*
I appreciate they are not to be wet, or this will shag what's wrapped up in it.*
    [IMG]

Bag closed, there's still loads of room left in it for everyday items.*
TomTom in the top map viewing area.*
The good thing too, because it sits close to the cover you can operate it without removing it from the bag.*
    [IMG]

The bag is not itself waterproof.*
It does however come with a waterproof cover, you can still view the map but the cover is quite wrinkled.*
The cover goes all around the bag, with plenty of overlap underneath.*
Being elastic it pulls in nice and snug.*
    [IMG]

Fitting to the bike could not be more simple.*
Remove three of the screws, attach the ring an place the plate to correspond with the holes.*
A note of caution here, use the screws supplied as they are a little longer.*
We are however unsure if they are suitable if you have the Carbon fuel cover?

A quick flick on the red lever sees the bag disengaged in a second. It takes as long to locate it.*
    [IMG]

Plenty of clearance all round. The black wire you can see? Is the power into the bag. I have just put a line in for now, that enters through the two zips.*
    [IMG]

All powered up ready to go.*
    [IMG]

    To end *
Basically, that's how my photography will travel. I feel comfortable with the bag where it is, I won't have to fumble around bags to get the camera.*
When fuelling, all valuables will be in one place, it's easy to carry around, even comes with a shoulder strap

All my kit is wrapped in chamois. It has a high moisture regain. It's what makes it so handy as....well as a chamois. in normal atmospheric conditions about 30% of it's mass is just water. Tumble dry it and it will get 30% lighter, leave it out in the air for an hour and it will gain the weight back just from the relative humidity. It will hold moisture away from the kit it's wrapping but stay moist enough to be a great lens cloth.

    Thanks a million Gaz.

Yeah, that looks like it will have done the trick, however, you are right, the bracket wont fit on with my carbon filler.....

It looks like i'll have to go the either the bumbag route, or kriega tank bag. Everywhere i've read says don't put the cam in a tail pack due to vibrations...

    Cheers guys.

I've ordered a Kriega tank adapter to put my spare US10 on as a tank bag. Should get the camera and spare lens, plus waterproofs and batteries/chargers for the go pro in there too. Happy days.

I got it from Blackpool Honda mate.
Give Joe a shout in stores see if they got any in stock? Cost was £79.99 I think?
It was actually one they had for their eBay shop.
I ride with it ok, I don't find it obtrusive. Although I've only covered 50miles so far.
I did however experience a kind of popping noise at certain speeds? I guess it could be linked with the air displacement Over the screen or something?

By the Power of Greyskull! It's like a nerve centre for world domination in there. Is there space for a long-haired, white cat?

    No bumbag, Si!

You don't want a load of glass, metal and plastic around your kidneys if you have a spill, shipmate.

It's another sign of just how electronics are dominating our world isn't it Lambeth.
Gone are the days of unfolding the paper map out of the pocket, it falling into pieces in your fingers.
And scrambling around the floor to try and salvage the Yorkshire Dales.

Off to feed the cat ;)
