When taking the bike out of hibernation this year, I was confronted with a VERY leaky fork, which turned out to be caused by corrosion spots on the leg shredding the fork seal!!!
Remedy was to have the fork rebuilt with a new slide tube: this was the thread

I clean my bike fairly often, and never ride when the roads are salted... so was totally taken aback that there should be corrosion.

Well, this weekend the garage door was left open, as it often is during the summer. I was stood in the kitchen, and noticed next door's tom cat enter the garage... he makes a bee-line for the front of the bike, and with no hesitation whatsoever turns, and sprays his mark up the fork leg
It's clearly something he does regularly...... the little fecker!!!

So... funny question... could repeated application of tom-cat scent been responsible for my corroded fork leg?!?!?

Ha, that's pretty much what went through my mind... but the only weapon to hand was a pair of garden shears, and the little fecker was too quick for me...... otherwise he'd be meoowing in castrato.

Get that lion piss stuff and spray it at the front of your garage.
I will be watching for the local tom cat doing that around here too.
Although he is massive, and tends to know his place.
