Another area of research for the Aprilia team is the seamless gearshift, in which the latest developments have lead to a reduction of the weight of the transmission components, thus enhancing efficiency. Thanks to seamless shift gearbox technology, gears are engaged as soon as the pilot puts pressure on the gear shift, without having to interrupt the flow of gas or touch the clutch. In terms of benefits, from a MotoGP standpoint, this means engine torque continuity, limiting loss of adhesion, and ensuring smooth acceleration. From this starting point, Aprilia is working on enhancements that may be transferred to the Aprilia Quick Shift technology, which is already featured on some models, such as the RSV4. This technology ensures a softer, more comfortable on-road driving experience, by adapting the gear change to the pilot’s preferences.
