Took the Blade out for a ride yesterday as it was a rare mild dry day and noticed when i dropped it from the paddock stands that the front brakes has stuck on a bit. I took it out for a few miles and put it back on its stands and span the front wheel and I'm feeling a bit of resistance from the pads. The wheel will spin a revolution and I can hear the pads dragging a bit so I thought I would give the front brakes an overhaul. Is this relatively simple to do? I just want to remove the pads and clean up and copperslip the caliper pistons. Any help/guidance is appreciated.
Copperslip shouldent go anywhere near the pistons,it can be used sparingly where they bear on the brake pads, but lubricate the pistons with red rubber grease, anything else will/can/may damage the seals. Clean the pistons using a toothbrush and brake/clutch cleaner.
Pump pistons out as much as you dare, one at a time, clean em till shiny, apply RRG near seals and push pistons back in by hand all the way in. If they won't push in easily, remove them all and check seals. Apply RRG to seals, push pistons back in and then bleed brakes.
