Please help..i have a 2010 cbr1000 rr, which has done 14000 kms. Since 2 months i ve started facing a weird problem.. The bike takes a little longer self to start.. And when it starts it sounds like only 2 cylinders are functioning and i have to hold the throttle else it dies down. It keeps misfiring and sounds strange till the engine temperature reaches 80-90 deg. It emits smoke and smell of unburnt fuel.. Showed to my mechanic.. According to him the valves in 2 cylinders ve sanked in and shim needs to be set again.. There is a deposit of somewhat red residue deposit on throttle bodies and injectors, valves which i feel could be the burnt carbon deposit of 97 octane petrol. I have used STP injector cleaner and octane boosters also when i travel as 97 oct is not available everywhere but after that 7 tanks of pure 97 oct ve been consumed. Is this possible that the valves ve sanked in coz of adulterated fuel or addittives that were used as there is no compression in 2 cylinders What could be the red deposit and shall i go ahead with the valves and shim replacement ???? Please advice.. The exhaust smells very diff. The bike has done just 14000 kms how can valves sink in.. Coz of adulterated fuel.. On the move also if i give instant throttle to overtake the engine doesn give out that power..sinks a bit..
Lambda sensor may be faulty giving you a rich mixture then lean mixture a possibilty.Cheap fuel can burn them out.We have the same problem over here with supermarket fuels with cars especially jags.
If its a 2010 then its in its 2 year warranty and there is no need to worry unless you have shafted it your self somehow ??
Loss of compression is clearly a cylinder head problem the strong possibilty is that the valves are bent or other damage might be due to poor quality petrol. My advise dont run the bike get it fixed under its warranty. PM sent Sumit
A simple comp test will give you some clues, if the readings are wildly out then you need to look at valve clearences, I would rule that out first before looking at afr and tps settings etc.. Posted on my HTC Sensation with Tapatalk
Re-do the compression test and put a teaspoon of oil down the barrels. If the compression rises it will be the piston rings.
Has Honda placed a recall on the 2010 Blade? for this or any other fault any where? some info would help please
And thats exactly what Honda will say the minute they realise there has been STP & octane booster used. Valve stem seals hate that stuff with a passion, and that could be a cause of the problem, but more likely it sounds like a cylinder head issue as has already been said, stop using it straight away and get it booked in at your supplying dealer. note that they will check it with the honda diagnostics kit and if they see you have run it excessively with issues they will null & void the warranty.
Hmmm this sounds a weird one! are you saying it misses until upto temp then its all four but under powered?? Very strange for a honda engine to be fooked! I would look into fuelling more as arthur says TPS sensor/ECT sensor/lambda sensor!!
For once we agree Bats. My R6 had exactly the same symptoms, in the end it was the head cracked in the water jacket, a pic of what the internals looked like. Bottom one is the new head i bought, .5 thou skim, kit gasket, lapped the valves in, minter.
O no milky is bad bet one was gutted? pld for getting your hand dirty mate bet it was a good job? But really you had the same symtoms ie missing and shit untill norm temp then it ran on all four but smoked a bit and was under powered that sound weird for a HG fault!!
Was a minter of a job, motor was filled. Basic story, took said R6 in px, ran fine on delivery, stripped bodywork off, let it run up outside the workshop, all of a sudden it starts sounding like a triumph bloody triple, killed the engine straight out, checked dipstick and weyhooooo its like popping a champagne cork. Worst part of it all was manually lapping in all valves, they are ti valves so you have to take great bloody care. crack was right underneath a cam mounting bridge, bastard to find. id say its a top end issue on this blade, but i wouldnt rule out the possibility of a HG problem.
I wonder if my experience can show any light on this? So India, modern bike. Hmm. Now ive been to India a few times and I reckon this fueling problem comes from the source of the fuel. Most refills of bikes cars trucks I've seen usually take place on the side of a road from plastic water bottles. It's dusty and sandy as hell maybe the fuel is full of crap? This would answer the Red colour in the lines. Like I said. Just my tuppence worth
Is a quick test to check the coolant for gasses..why not... Nasty head that cc. Posted on my HTC Sensation with Tapatalk
