Once you've gained access to the bare tank and the two bolts that secure the tank to the frrme it should swivel backwards then I place a lump of 2 x 2 under the tank resting across the frame. If the tank does'nt swivel backwards remove the brace plate just behind the tank be careful as this also serves as a swivel stop.

As said there are only four bolts, two at the back (hinge) and two at the front, you then have a water drain hose, the fuel hose and pump wires thats it, there is a rubber shroud that sits round the back of the engine and air box my guess would be someone has jammed it, also check the spacers in the fixing holes as one may be stuck against the tank, they look like spacers and stop the bolts from crushing the rubber mounts.

As mb said it should fold back on the hinge bolts and you can strap a bungee round to the rear seat cowl clips to hold it but the idea of that was just for air filter access so if your in for pc3 or whatever yes undo them all and lift the tank out, take note if you undo the large banjo bolt on the fuel line its not self closing like later quick release models so fuel will poor out, I drain yhem down with a syphon or vacume pump first.!
