hi chaps im new to this forum and wanted to join after buying a cbr1000rr6 a couple of weeks ago. i want it to look as clean and standard as possible and as the rear plastics were cracked i have bought a brand new seat fairing , i managed to man handle the old one off without paying much attention as to how i twisted or turned it to get it off but now the new one although exactly the same and a genuine honda part wont go over the under plastics of the seat ,how the effin ell is it supposed to go over ? am i being too soft with it ? im scared to death of cracking the new piece as it is brand new and was not cheap .are there any links ie youtube ,photos etc to guide me with the refitting? any help greatly apprieciated
Hi, Have you thought of using the old one as your test platform and refit n remove that few times so you can see which ways work best? By using the old cracked unit it won't matter if you cause more damage to it but should give you some pointers about fitting the new one without issues!
Mate Took my RR7 rear off 4 times , fitting different exhaust , just fit one side under first and then pull the other side down , tight fit and a little bending, but should be ok
That's how I do mine, hook one side on and stretch over the other side. They stretch much further than you think
thanks for the info chaps good idea abot using the broken one shiny ,ill have a large whishy and have a go at the weekend cheers
Keep the new one indoors (Warm) before you take it out to fit it, it helps the plastic flex more it it's warm.
Yes this is good advice warm the plastic up a bit first to give it flex and take the brittleness out of it!
