Hi chaps, just about to do my 4000 mile oil change, was wondering if anybody uses fully synthetic, and what are the pros and cons if any cheers
I only use fully after 16k. Fully synth slows down the wear process and i want to make sure my bike is 100% run in before changing from semi to fully.
You can't run a bike in any more using semi or fully synthetic, only mineral oil allows componants to wear in properly .
Jo and I use Silkolene PRO 4 Plus 10w-50 and K&N oil filter, We got ours on e-bay for £38 for 4 ltrs Silkolene PRO 4 Plus 10w-50 The Ultimate Full Synthetic Ester 4-Stroke Engine Oil 4 Litres
I must admit to being totally confused about all this semi... full. 10w/30....10w/40 etc. There is just too much conflicting info.
I think most oils these days are so good anyway that as long as it's a quality oil it needn't matter too much. I would be looking into it more for a track bike but for the road any decent semi/fully will be OK.
Semi synthetic this time same grading as fully I used last year not really tried this year yet will get back on any differences to riding experience
Post in this thread with details of your bike etc. and they'll advise you on the best oil for you. http://1000rr.co.uk/opie-oils/2706.htm
Spoke with Honda Technical today to find out about what oil Honda recommend for the Blade. Officially due to the current partnership with Castrol, Power 1 Racing 10-30 fully synthetic is recommended. Money talks as usual i.e. what ever oil company comes up with the biggest offer is the company Honda would recommend. However, as on off the record comment. Honda tech would use a semi-synthetic 10-40 of any quality brand (between you and me of course)
