Following on from the security thread I've now got an 'urge' to have an electric Roller Shutter door rather than the shat up & over bag-O-shyte unit I have now.

..............especially as there's sumat worth nicking in there now!

Anyone had one fitted recently or done their own DIY install?

I looked into getting these fitted when the big roller spring went wrong on my up and over doors, but it was looking at costing nearly £1800 - so I got a new spring for 60 quid and bought a ground anchor for the front as well as the rear!

When the pink ticket comes up it's on my list of got to haves though.

This place is supposed to be very good for roller shutter doors - lots of options if you need them and very helpful on the phone when I enquired about a couple of sizes for my garage.

electric garage doors prices UK insulated roller garage doors

Looks like they are quite a bit closer to you than Reading.

Now I need a Wife, who'd let me do that! :D

For £1500 I'd have expected the roller to be boxed in?

Kits half that price offer that?

Box fitted after the pic was taken. The one supplied was scratched so I asked them to replace it.

I've not got roller doors , but got sectional electric doors by horman fitted them myself
The garage opening size is what makes the price cheap or expensive !? If its a common size then there are lots of deals to had.
Also with roller doors they need lots of height above opening , room enough to roll up if you know what I mean ?
Anyway great doors no handles difficult to open especially with abus disc locks into ground hoops

I would like roller garage doors but just the costs. But I do have some added security to my garage doors whichever does make it very hard for people to brake in

Can the thieves not just buy a widget on eBay that can open these electronic doors though?

Apparently not with rolling code technology however I have disabled the remote operation on the PCB of the control unit to be sure.

I take it that's 'hard-wired' then and not a wireless keypad on the outside of the garage?

Correct, thinking about a keypad for the internal door when it comes.

You also have a 'vacation' mode where you can disable the control panel if you wish and just use the remote.

So you have a hard wired keypad on the outside or is it internal so you can't open the door from outside but only after entering the garage from another personal access door?

Can't open the door from the outside garage is integral.
