Is it worth while having a gear indicator on a road bike, if so what is the best?
    Cheers.

Not got one but have done the research and Gipro come out tops. It fits into the OEM loom so no cutting required.

Don't get the cheap ones as some have a sensor round the gear shifter, they are dog poo

I'd feel lost without one standard on mine I think all bikes should be fitted with one

Absolutely! For a bike with such a high performance it's incredible how tractable my 'blade is and I've even found myself bimbling along at 28mph in 'top' gear in a '30' zone! You do get the odd 'clever-dick' who goes; "I don't need one and neither shud you. You shud always know what gear's selected" Pointing out that even F1 drivers feel the need to have one in the middle of the steering wheel of their 'save every gram!' racing cars usually shuts the twats up. :D
