Has anyone changed there gearing -1 on the front +1 on the back and still used the bike for touring? If so how much did it alter the revs And fuel on a run as I’d like the extra mid range to play but not if it’s revving it’s tits off on a longer run. cheers
I went -1 front & +2 rear on my RR5 and loved it for a while, but the novelty soon ran out when the noise outweighed the acceleration. I then reigned it in to just +2 on the rear.
How was it with just the rear mate? Being just the rear won’t throw the speedo out either with Will it?
I went -1 front first and it was a bit better. Just put +1 rear on and 2nd gear is punchy as, loving it at the minute but time will tell.
Yeah it was loads better. I left it like that in the end, although I forgot about it when I sold the bike and the guy messaged me asking why it was so much quicker than his mates RR4
What do you use on your track bike? At Bedford my rr7 doesn't even get in to 6th on the long straight running a 55 rear tyre. ETA... sorry, just noticed this in your sig... Renthal 520 chain conversion, +4R(45T)/-1F(15T) gearing
Lol. I've changed it a few times though. It was a 46 rear, but as I've got quicker I've learned that higher gearing actually stops a lot of the coasting between corners because it stops those unnecessary gear changes just before you get to your braking point.
I went +1 on the rear. The speedo inaccuracy got worse. Went through the gears quicker but seemed to run out of pull at the top end. Back to standard now. 43 tooth cog for sale if anyone fancies it.
