hi guys my dad is about to buy an older blade (04) and needs to replace the tyres. he rides at slow to mid slow group pace on trackdays (he would probably do 2 a year on it) and 10 rides on a weekend throughout the year. mainly a fair weather rider but would ride in the rain on a trackday so tyres need to be good in the wet, without needing much pace to keep the heat in them. fast sporty road tyres are not required here. given how he rides, tyres with a harder compound in the middle makes sense. he doesnt like a fast tip in but at the same time isnt a great rider so a really neutral tyre like bridgestone isnt ideal. no spare wheels so its a 1 tyre suits all situation. i was going to suggest pilot road 3/4 to him. or potentially dunlop roadsmarts. i use the pr3 on the road on a lesser powered bike and theyre great but i have never ridden them on track - would they perform ok in 22 degrees sun and not melt? i am out of touch with modern rubber (that isnt trackday tyres only) so wondered what people thought. budge isnt really a consideration. cheers Jon
As above Pilot Roads are fine - or if he is not doing many miles and mainly fair weather with a few trackdays, what about Pilot Power 3? http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/motorbike-tyres/michelin/pilot-power-3/190-50-zr17-73w-185923

My 04 came with Pirelli Diablo Corsa's which worked well and suited the bike if you can get hold of them, the Corsa II's were not so got, but Rosso II also worked well - depends on what your local tyre dealer can get hold of at a decent price. PR3/4's are OK if you want lots of miles out of them and ride a lot in the wet, something a bit more sporty might be better.
i am running my 929 on Bridgestone 023's... 170 quid a pair... am a reasonable road rider and they are great and grippy on track days. Usually get about 5k mileage from a rear.. pic below is after some road use...
Having read a few reviews, I've gone for Dunlop RoadSmart 2's... bit of a gamble, but several reviews all said they're brilliant on the road, get excellent mileage, and are even up to the occasional trackday...... bold claims!!! I'm no nutter, do a fair amount of commuting, and try to do a trackday a year...... so far I'm quite please with them, but I haven't done this years trackday yet...
If Haslam trusts his race school bikes with 023's and now T30's you cant go wrong with them. I've done maybe 70k on them with only 1 puncture and never had a problem on track or road. Bruce Smart used them to go round the world and I think he either got 1 or no punctures on that trip
