    Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a Givi tanklock T489 bag.
Has anyone got one? If so, what do you reckon?

    Nigel.

Ive fitted one to mine, it's not been used in anger as yet, specifically I bought it for my DSLR and lens plus other bits you need with you when touring, I moved it as far forward on the plate as I could, I still find myself leaning on the bag a little 'only sat on bike on paddock stands' but I seem to be able to move around the bike ok?
I'm in the process of putting some power to it, so I can charge and phone whilst on the move.

I'll take the bike out loaded before I form a propper opinion on its ease of use, if it goes tits, it's back to the drawing board, I've got a five day Scotland trip in may and 17 day tour around Spain, so I'm really hoping for a positive outcome.

The new one has a fold away satnav/phone holder, the tomtom I have fits fine, but not with the charge lead plugged in

It does however fit snug into the map compartment

Let me know how you get on, I've gone a bit lazy on my project thus far, 'still on holiday mode'

Fitting Kit for the Honda is a BF03 at £12.25

TBH Ian, I only wanted a small Tank Bag as it's only for riding essentials like money, Phone, drink and Sat Nav.

Don't want a great big hulking bag on the tank that you could sleep against and obscures the dash etc, that what the Ventura Spada is for!

I'm thinking the same thing. Just want a small tank bag for a few bits. When it does arrive could you post a picture with it on? Cheers.
Having said that I've got the patience of a woman in a handbag shop, so will probably end up ordering anyway! :)

I've had a tanklock bag for about 6 months, they are great, you barely notice them when they are on, and it makes fill ups so much easier as they jsut clip on and off.

I would strongly recommend one to anyone!

Just placed my order for the 3D601. It's only a 4L one but should fit the basics. Has a special compartment for the phone too, which I thought was a nice touch.

I see you live in Hinckley Blade1000man?

I bought my first Fireblade from Drayton Croft in Hinckley way back in 1993, cost me £7250!

Makes today's Blades look bargains if you account for inflation etc

I see they no longer sell Honda's though!

    Hi Sinewave,

    Yes, live in Hinckley mate.
Drayton Croft have gone through a few manufacturers. They're doing MV now.
I know what you mean about the bargains. Sadly, those days have long gone eh?

    Nige.

Thanks for the info. I'd be interested in a pic when you get it- there seems to be so many different ones its difficult to know which one to go for. I want one that will fit a clear visor, waterproofs, drink etc. but one that won't really be noticeable when riding.

Just rang Motorcycle Planet up as I order the XS307 back in February.

They are still waiting for deliveries from Givi as this, amongst others, is a new line for 2013 and has yet to land in the country.

As soon as I have it I'll post up pics.

Looks good - I am after one slightly bigger with a map pocket on top. I will be interested to see SineWaves pics when his arrives.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

SatNav mount looks neat, who makes that?

    Cheers,

    Ian.

This is the same clobber as SW Motech/Bags Connection gear. How do prices/availability compare?

I have one mate had it on the blade when that was on the road and also on the r1 which cost £10 for new fixing plate so it's a good system to change over on new bikes.

Brilliant gear mate, not 100% waterproof without the cover on but decent. My only gripe would be condensation on the map viewer but that was in some shocking weather!

I was like Garyb - put it as far forward as possible but thought I'd never be able to ride with it, within a couple of hours it was fine and wouldn't tour without it now.

Love the fact it keeps it off the tank. One bit to remember though is if you have a hrc filler protector the bolts that come with it will be too short.

Only pics I have of it are on the r1 but might help?

No worries, if its the right size it's great as the lock in is do easy and rock solid on the bike... Even in 6th gear ;)

Just ordered a T489 - looks to do all that I need - and I am too impatient to wait for the XS307 to come into stock - its also £15 cheaper which is an added bonus :)
