I'd say the new series of GoPro especially the black edition would be the best from GoPro. There are other makes out there though that others may prefer
Tbh there is nothing wrong with the whole GP range, I have a gp3 black edition the quality is amazing. I have some screen capture images in my gallery if you want to have a look what the quality is like http://1000rr.co.uk/members/andy-albums570.htm
I've got the AEE S50, great camera, pretty much the same as the gopro 3, but a bit cheaper. Accessories for the gopro are better than the AEE camera!
I have a gopro hd 1 (3 years old) which still gives amazing 1080p if needed. That is a testament to the quality. Buy the latest model would be my advice. It'll last years.
3+ Black edition is a superb unit - you only have to look at BBC / ITV productions and they are using them all over the place and quality is amazing from them. Takes a bit of time to get the best from the position of the mounts - you want the camera rock solid or any wobble is magnified 100 times on playback - There are quite a few on here who have produced really good films from trackdays and road riding with a variety of mounting locations The best bit about buying into the GoPro round is the huge amount of 3rd party mounts and devices which are now available via eBay etc. which supplement the official ones and are good value. of course the other option is to buy 2 or 3 second hand versions of the first HD ones for the price of a Black 3 and capture loads of footage - but depends what you will do with the results / how much spare time you have to edit etc. (and it takes AGES!) Couple of my films here : https://vimeo.com/84699152 - Chest mount on road in Spain https://vimeo.com/83210133 - Off road in pouring wet using chest mount plus some with it on a tripod https://vimeo.com/63916322 - Salford quays light show - mix of cameras but the low shots and panning are GoPro https://vimeo.com/53280363 - Time lapse over Manchester Albert Square https://vimeo.com/44171357 - Snetterton track day with forward and rear facing footage. https://vimeo.com/27099804 - Donny Trackday - camera mounted on side fairing quite low to catch front wheel Good mixture there of uses for GoPro - some road some track some using it attached to a Pot Noodle countdown time to give a timelapse pan unit All above shot with a GoPro HD 1
GoPro cameras are some of the best cameras out on the market. I have the original hd from several years ago and am looking at upgrading . Would suggest the silver as this is really is all you will need as the file size for the Black will take some serious number crunching from your computer = jerky video etc. trust me on my 50 inch pioneer plasma screens 720 is simply all you will need , looks fab
I'm using the Bullet HD2, has plenty of mount options and easy to align with integrated laser pointer plus 1 switch for on and off. 720p@60fps or 1080p@30fps link below. Dogcam | Bullet HD 2 Camera kit Video footage from on bike track day. RAF Valley Charity Track Day - YouTube taken at 720p 60fps.
I use the drift ghost which has a remote which i attached to my arm and built in screen, if you follow baron von grumble on you tube you can see his footage and he has 10% discount, i had a Go Pro prefer the Drift as it has some better features, including a lens adjustment. IMO
It allows you to align the levels in the event you haven't got it fixed exactly level, which can be viewed through the small LCD screen, I haven't seen used Go Pro for years, but i do find the remote really helpful as well, easy to start and stop video as you go along..... some videos, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i34D4pOHpJs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebiCwfV9DC0
The Lens adjustment is basically like a Spirit Level for the lens so as said if you can't mount the camera bang on vertical or 90 degrees to the vertical you can twist the lens so as the picture is recorded vertically.
