As above getting the bike dyno'd sat because if I dont get it done now he will be too busy with all the NW200 and IOM guys,So I have new plugs in,fresh tyres, chain and sprocket.do I need to do anything else! use regular fuel or stick in the high octain stuff??
Just the standard. Been proven in some cases high octane Has reduced performance. Who are you taking it to ?
May sound strange but Im not sure! The guy's I go to the road racing with from Navan/Kells swear by this guy.He does all their bikes he's in Dublin.Danny! so if he's good enough for them Im happy.Heading down with one of them and meet him, see how it goes.
heres a bit about the fuel from bike magazine. I get my work done at mototech, he builds a lot of the road race bikes and supertwins.
Thats danny lyons, he is a top man at his job, iv had s bike mapped by him before, he'll get u a really good torque curve , just dont be expecting crazy bhp figures
To be honest I'm not lookn big Numbers I just want it smoothed out to suit the k&n and yoshi. The bloody thing too fast for me as it is. Lol. I hear great things about him alright.
Ill hopefully have a pcv fitted and get danny to map my rr8 in the next 2 months, and its not that he cant get high numbers but he'll tell you himself that his dyno is prob one of the lowest reading in the country, bike will be transformed when he's finished with it givin it maximum torque anywhere in the rev range
I have always used high octane fuel - makes the engine run smoother, get more miles and a performance gain.. if you have never tried it, give it a go..you have nothing to loose..
You lose the extra money for 97 vs 95 octane... Not worth it... The energy value is identical between them. H
Well got her done, what an interesting day the guy was a wealth of knowledge.and as for places not letting you in to watch!!He even explained everything he was doing and how he was smoothing it out,I wasnt going for big horse power figure just smooth the fueling out.so i now have a perfect powerband torque curve and 155bhp which he said for his dyno which gives lower readings than other machines was a very good figure. His words was, yes i can give you a big figure on a piece of paper you can bring home and put up on your wall or i can give you a bike with power all through the rev range,I went for the latter and I must say "wow".He (Danny Lyons) was telling me he was chief machanic for a Honda race team when the RR4 came out first so has a wealth of knowledge about them. He also set up my suspention for me as i was asking him questions and he just went ahead and done it explaining as he went along what and why he was doing..Im a very happy bunny today!
