Found this on the US CBR1000RR Forum, maybe worth a shot. Quote; I have used Mobil1 4T in my bikes exclusively for 6 years. Unfortunately the 08 was burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. When I had the bike at the dyno the tech advised that I try performing a shock treatment using Yamaha Ring Free then immediately change the oil to gn4 10w-30 dino oil, and not switch back to synthetic. I did as advised, before shock treatment exhaust pipe was very sooty black, after running through the full tank pipe was not sooty. Bike ran horrible during the shock treatment but cleared up on the next tank. 500 miles now and bike has burned zero oil and no soot on pipe. Worth a shot and it worked great for me. Iv only done about 500 miles on my 08 since I got it and it hasnt dropped a bit, I have checked it a fair bit caus I was a bit paranoid about it, im the 3rd owner and the previous owner said it didnt burn any on him , He also told me that the first owner had any recalls or checks done , Was there any recalls even done for these blades???
