    Hi all,
now I don't know if this belongs here or not but really don't know where to go..

OK, so I bought a 08 blade from ebay. Because I live in Ireland and bike was in UK, I used an independent bike transport company to collect the bike from the seller and deliver to port of Holyhead where I collected the bike.
All good, no problems with communication with seller, payment via bank transfer, bike as described - all good until that point. However, seller texted me to confirm when bike was collected but he noted that he didn't give them the V5 because he was afraid they might lose it so he said he is posting it to me.
Now it's been over a month and I still haven't received the V5 but what more I cannot contact seller anymore, being it via ebay, email or phone.
When brought from different country, vehicle must be registered in Ireland within 30 days of entering the state which is now pass this period so I will end up paying some penalty IF I will eventually get the V5 and be able to register it.

Is there anybody who knows what could I do? Is it possible to request replacement V5 from DVLA as I have all the communication and proof of payment documented (emails, texts, bank statement etc...) or am I completely screwed???

I really appreciate any kind of advise folks...

You need to get in touch with the police asap and find out who owns the bike how do you know the bikes not stolen I'm sorry but it all sounds dodgy to me

Sounds like a scam to me, probably stolen,if it was legitimate you would still be able to contact him, They always say never buy a bike if your not at the sellers home, you were not even in the same country:eek: Sorry to say it mate but your only option is to do what was suggested above, phone the police and let them check it out. Hope it all turns out ok and it's just lost in the post.

Please tell us that you did a HPI check prior to purchasing the bike? Especially if you bought it blind and without meeting the seller.

Post a link to the listing so we can take a look at the seller.

Have you tried contacting the seller through eBay or any of the listed contact info for company?

Did you get sent any pics of the v5 paperwork?

The bit I find funny is he wouldn't trust the transport company with a v5 reg document but he would happily trust them with a 4 grand bike

Plus....The only way you can obtain a replacement V5 after applying for it, is the DVLA get in contact with the previous R/K and informs them an application has been made for a V5 for the vehicle registered to them.
The V5 current keeper has to give permission for the application to pass through.

If you go through eBay you can open a resolution case, as its not met its full desription as part of the sale.

Equally, I would have never bought a bike blind. That (as this is) is asking for trouble.

However, if you look at the sellers feedback, he/she/they haven't sold any bikes apart from this Blade. They have sold many Circuit Boards instead.

Hope you get it sorted though fella.

Thanks everybody. I spoke with seller and really didn't feel suspicious. Probably my bad. I guess this whole thing might have logical explanation beside that bike was stolen as I have a book with some old and recent invoices for servicing, old MOT reports etc..
I am not sure if I can open the case on ebay because I paid him via bank transfer. I will check with DVLA first thing tomorrow morning.

His feedback was fine to me, even though he never sold a bike he explained that this was his own bike.
Anyways, lesson learned. I don't think I will be so naive next time :)

On the other hand, bike goes like stink and is mechanically almost perfect, just needs replaced few corroded fasteners etc...

I know this doesn't help, but I feel for you.
We all want to have trust in others, it's a shit life without that.
I recently did exactly what you have.. but even worse.
I couldn't be bothered to travel Manchester to Taunton to see it, I did not HPI check it, I sent the guy the full asking price by bank wire, then hired a transport company to go and collect it, and then I just assumed the bike would arrive ok.
    I was lucky.
I wish you good luck, we are all prone to wanting the best from others.

A quick search shows that the company details for the sellers business has ceased trading and has been dissolved .
Martin Luke Usher was indeed a director which totalled three people, his name appears on the E-Bay site to which the account is held or was.
The company went bust and it is possible that your bike was registered with the company and could have been an asset .
You have little chance of getting any money back .
The registered business address is - 5 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, Devon, EX1 1QT

Gutted for you fella if that's the case... Love all the hindsight advice but seems like the business going pop is the likely scenario.... Who steals a bike and the mot certs etc etc

Personally I see you have too options, contact police and I think the administrators will end up with it, or you have yourself a very nice track bike for not a huge amount of money ;)

I would tend to go along with jimbo a bit naughty maybe at least you can enjoy it as liquidators would have it and a few k out of pocket. If it was me I would be at his door no matter what it takes and money would be back in my pocket I ain't inciting violence btw if you get my drift just a little persuasion I call it
