Turned on my bike other day and when started the red oil light was flashing on and off and instead of displaying temperature it was just showing FI. turned the bike off and restarted it and the problem went. Then today, started it up same problem, then turned it off and back on and it went???? Well confused. any ideas please?? Dont have the manual for the bike.

    Cheers

Go on gixerjunkies there's threads on there that tell you which wires in the diagnostic plug ( under seat ) to bridge across so the fault code is displayed on the dash ! It's been a fair few years since I've had my k4 but I remember it being easy to do

oh and to make sure you have the right plug its the black/white and red/white

on newer gixers suzuki added a few extra wires to try and confuse things but the
    same colours apply.

Yip the diagnostic plug is under the pillion seat hugging the N/S frame, the plug is white with a black rubber boot over it.
Use a paper clip or wire to short out the white/red and the black/white wires together with the ignition turned on (bike can also be running) this will show any fault code on the dash of the bike.

The below link shows pics of the plug and further down the page gives a list of fault codes and what they mean. (just remove the 2x"DOT" from the link).
