Dunno about you lot of mammal botherers...?
I was looking for some decent winter/waterproof gear & settled on a Valkyr jacket & Wish trouser.
Should I have simply saved up my pocket money & bought Rukka?
The H stuff is, in my experience not very good at all.
Rubbish velcro, mainly. Wrist & ankle cuffs come undone, and the magnetic chest fastening is next to useless at motorway speeds.
Had these for a year & a half, I suppose, & not impressed for £900. I know it's a long way short of Rukka stuff, but is Rukka worth the extra?
I will add in defence that the jacket & trousers have never leaked, from the outside or the inside!
The stuff I received was made in Thailand though (despite having Swedish flag tabs), using locally made material & local labour rates. £900 would buy a house over there!
What are your thoughts & recommendations on foul weather commuting gear?
I don't need to step out of it like James Bond, but don't want to be like I'm putting a quilt cover on with one hand.

    Signed

Moany old git, that's had a couple this evening.

interesting, that you mentioned the fact the clothing has not leaked, which is the main reason to purchase winter/waterproof clothing. So does that mean it serves its purpose??. Yes velcro is rubbish, and doesn't last the test of time, especially continuously used, Thats why stud fasteners are applied to the jackets. Its not where its made, but the material and workmanship.
Recommendation, stick with what you have. But venture on elastic bands around the ankle and cuff areas.

I had some A☆ gear a while ago . £600 when new. It was shit. Had a rubberised inner liner that made me sweat like a that. I got more wet from sweat than the rain.
I'm currently using H&g 2piece which has been brill. The only issue is the waste has no stretch panel and I'm now a fat fuck so have to ride with the button undone.
    But Brill gear

    I hear what you say.
I should have clarified in that the fabric itself hasn't leaked so far.
The cuffs, both ankle & wrists, but especially wrists are absolutely pony. Wind & rain shoots up the arms most easily, even at moderate speeds, your Honour.
All of the velcro comes undone because it's not wide enough or strong enough. There are no stud fasteners on the sleeves, ankles or chest. Just a 10mm wide velcro strip that's patently inadequate.
