    Hi guys

I've been thinking lately that I'd like to try a big V-Twin for a change.

I love the sound of a V-Twin and every time I hear 1 I say to myself I have to get me 1 of those !!
Question is do I go for the likes of the KTM RC8R, or do I go for something like a SP1/2.
I like the nostalgia that the SP brings, but I also really like the look of the RC8 even more so since I had a good look at 1 the other day. They really do have some quality parts on them.
If it were to be the KTM I'd probably need to chop in the blade, or I could have the blade and a SP.

    Help please :)

I'd love an SP2, nice one bit expensive for me at the moment mind.

See that's the thing with the SP, the prices are only going up.
I could buy 1 and if i wanted sell it later at the same price (or more going with the trend) if need be.
Or I could get the RC8 for a little more than a descent SP2 costs, which I'm sure will be a better bike all round.

    Lol. Thanks Ken

I've never ridden a big V-Twin before but there's just something about them that tick the boxes for me.
Thing is, would I regret it?

They're like a drug. You know it's not doing you any good but you can't help yourself. It's like a sub set of biking in general. You know when you meet someone that says 'I don't get the whole bike thing.' and no matter what you say you can't change their mind, then you meet someone who has ridden bikes and just give you that understanding nod. Well guys who haven't ridden big V twins and guys that have are the same kind of thing.

I love my super smooth water cooled 4, but I miss my Ducati a lot.

At that price you'd need to have won the lottery to pay that. I seen a Joey Dunlop Sp1/2 on there the other week and it was £20k or £25k !!

To be honest I only really like the SP1 in Red or at a push the SP2 in white.

The RC8 is a good bike, I'd go for an SP2 if I wanted the Honda, but if like you I liked the RC8 I would not buy a Honda, sorry but the RC8 wins hands down, if I were to own only one bike and again liked the RC8 I would look for an early RC8R and not the new cheaper RC8R the older one had nice forged wheels etc! That said all f the RC8s are very good twins, much better than a 1098/1198 on the road IMO. I would say do nothing unless you can get a good test ride, some that like or are use to in line fours can often hate the lumpy twin however they are always shocked but the grunt factor!

I also like the idea of a v-twin and was looking at an Aprilia RSV Millie when I bought my blade, the deciding factor was the double insurance cost of the Aprilia!

I really need to try 1 to see if they are as good as I think they are. I just don't know weather to have 1 as a 'Special Bike' or to have 1 as the bike to go out on all the time if you know what I mean.

It's the torque that I like to punch out of the corners. If it were to be the RC8R, it was the 2011 model that was catching my eye. Not too sure but think after that they changed the wheels to cast??

I rode a 1098, vtr, sp2 and a 848 when I got the urge to sell my last blade
for a twin......bought the 848 on the spot as I loved it that much.was a joy to
ride and could out corner any big bike and not get left behind on the straights.
