Do a test ride first on your regular routes, cornering a Harley isn't the same like using a blade etc. You might be disappointed with the Harley on bumpy British roads as well.
I'm a closet Harley fan, generally lusting the Harley 48 or bobbers. Fancy one for when I want to bimble around Sussex. I also looked at the breakout..... Apart from the 48, it's probably the only other one in the current range I'd want. Only thing for me is £16k, not sure I could justify that. I know the residuals are stronger than a strong thing, but still, £16k is a lot if cash.
Well bit the bullet and ordered a breakout with Vance Hines big radius pipes and stage 1 tune with screemin eagle tuner, Ready in six weeks may get the other half on now pics will follow
Good one, I'm really looking forward to hearing your real world opinions. One day I'll join your club.
Good for you Graeme. L and I dollied it with the roof down to Hunstantion today, after the traditional must have fish and chips we wandered round the hundreds of bikes parked on the sea front. Something very similar to what you have ordered looked stunning, and sounded even better. I think it had the same pipes by the look of it. As mentioned before I am thinking of buying something as well as keeping the Ducati that L can pillion on, I was looking at sports tourers but I ready did like what we looked at today, let me know what you think when you get it mate.
I had a 48 a couple of years ago, had it for a year, great bike, only thing about Harley's is you have to start spending as soon as you get one, exhausts are the first thing on your shopping list then a stage 1 tune, servicing costs are a rip off £200 for its first service. Only sold it as my mate was fed up going slow on his blade, bought a blade to replace it.
Glad to hear u liked it thanks for reply. Did u use it as much a u thought u would. Servicing I would do myself so wouldn't worry. Yea a pipe is defiantly needed as it wasn't noisy at al. Thought could get one made by Mark hill cheaper than buying one. And speed isn't an issue and wouldn't have it tuned. Well that's what I say to myself. Don't want speed on the road at all. Would u buy another tho mate ? Thanks
I used it all through the summer put a 1000 miles on it , defo have another, I didn't get the stage 1 tune, just put the pipes on nothing fancy like the short shots, just a set of Vance and hinze, had to go out straight away and get some quiet baffles as the ones that came with the exhausts were really loud setting all the car alarms off in the road.
I love the Breakout best bike in the range for me but £16k before any modding is a big spend. The 48's are nice and with minimal customisation still look brilliant and maybe for about £12k. There are several Harley Dealers selling pre customised 48's.
Sweet mate. Think I'm sold on one. They are 9 grand brand new. Would only get a pipe. Think they look good for pottering about. 16' is miles to much for me. Even 9 is but thought I'd have it for a long time and use for work etc. hope so
