One of my clients with more money then sense and brains is selling his 18 month old Softail Slim with only the delivery mileage of 4 miles on the clock, he spent a fortune on V&H pipes and blacked out forks and a shit lot of other OE options fitted. He has never even ridden it due to health problems that he thought would go away, which they haven't. So its been sitting in his heated garage ever since . It cost him over 18K with all the bits and bobs.

He has said he will send me all the details and photographs which I will post up in due course.

He is hopeful that I also have more money than sense to take it off his hands.

I know I want a second bike so that L can go on the back for the odd Sunday ride as the Panigale 1199 is not conducive to taking a passenger so this might be ideal but I have no idea what this bike would be worth. I wouldn't want to take my clients pants down as its not my style, but I also want to get a bargain that will allow me to customise it to the way I want (ie 240 rear wheel and tyre and other stuff) without loosing money when I want to get rid.

Any ideas from anyone in the trade ?

I'd approach a local Harley Dealer with the spec on the pretext it's your bike and see what they'd offer you as a straight sale.

At this time of year the price is going to be rock bottom which works in your favour.

Get the price in writing/email etc then use this as a base for negotiations which will remove any possible misconseptions of 'avin ya clients pants down' :D

I don't know why I didn't think about doing that, When I get the full specification I will call Black Bear and see what they say. Thanks Mate.

If you're still looking at taking this off him, the trade guide price for Softail slim on a 13 plate is £10775 in December's guide. That's bottom book. A dealer would look to retail for around £12500 - £13k dependant on condition, mileage and accessories etc. He's taking a mahooosive kick in plums but he most probably realises that. I'd take the piss and offer £10k and you won't lose.
