I bought Front & Rear Harris stands for my Bike a while ago and top notch they are too! Been using the rear from day one but not used the front yet as on initial trial I found that the front wheel ABS sensor fouls the rear peg of the stand! At the time I though feckin typical and must 'ask the lads' about a solution! .................................weeks later I've finally remembered to ask U lot!
Does it really get in the way? On mine there is a big lump of cast metal which stops any problems. I don't had a Harris front stand, just a cheap M&P one, but no problems using it.
Always used a headstock front stand and neve been a issue. Sorry cant help any more but agree the Harris gear is quality. I have the rear stand
Come to that solution myself! Guna keep the front stand for the ZX10R Track Bike and buy a Headstock stand for the Blade! Result! ...............bar another £120 down!
I have a headstock stand that worked fine on my 04 Blade, and a Factory Tuono, but there is no way there is enough room between the front mudguard and nosecone on my 12 Blade, hence have had to fo back to the front paddock stand.
Any of you guys used a centre stand on the blade and what make would you recommend? Looking to remove the rear shock and grease the pivot bolts.
Sinewave - yes mine is a 12 HRC ABS. Its not got as many toys as yours, but just went over 10k miles today since I got it in August last year, it has a Honda Gel seat and the Honda higher screen, both of which I recommend RRoss, for doing that stuff the Abba stand is not cheap, but well worth it for doing stuff like that.
RRoss - as above Abba stand is a top bit of kit. Sinewave, the stand I use goes in the holes in the bottom of the forks. Mine is a Scorpion and 20+ year old - doubt they are available now. It looks like Harris do something similar though Harris Front 'Under Fork' Spigot Paddock Stand suitable for a Honda CBR1000 RR11 (2011) One think to watch with a head stock stand is to make sure it clears all the ABS pipework at the top of the radiator..
Cheers Ian. The one I got from Demon Tweeks is the universal stand with the 4 spigots that sort of cup the bottom of the forks. The one you linked to looks a better option however it's only listed for bikes up to 2011. The MY12 onwards bikes have the Showa Big Piston Forks so will be different I'd imagine. I can use the front stand for my ZX10 Tracker so it's not been a wasted purchase but I would like sumat for the Blade to sleep on over winter!
just to add if anyone get a Abba Stand they don't work well with a headstock stand. as the headstock lifts the front well but in doing so lowers the rear tyre back onto the ground as the ABBA stand does not give enough lifft. Why i'm using a Harris rear stand now
Abba appear to do a front stand that works in conjunction with their bike lift, looks excellent kit,I know what the wife's getting me for Xmas Sinewave,I've got the oxford front stand with the four spigots similar to what you describe and it works ok on my 2012 ABS.
Right Guy's! Been speaking today with Lester Harris of Harris Performance.com about the problems with using one of their current stands with an ABS Blade. He's aware of the problem but to date has not had access to a MY12+ ABS Blade. I'm emailing him some pix of the problem when trying to use one of their universal stands but he'd very much like a Bike to visit their workshops in Hertford? Anyone here whose local to them with a 2012/13 ABS Blade fancy spending approx 20 mins in their workshop? You'll be 'looked after' apparently! Let me know by PM
Are the 2012 and later ones different ? I know they're big piston etc but are the fork bottoms different ? I'm 5 mins from Harris but I've been using a standard Harris front stand with my 2011 ABS without any problems.
They must be as I ordered the universal front stand from Harris and it fouls the ABS sensor mounted near the bottom of the right hand fork leg before it even gets anywhere near the fork
