so I’m putting a had camera on the wall at the back of my house , covering the garden and lock up where the bike is , what height does everyone recommend putting the camera on the wall , there’s 2 thoughts to it

    1) put camera fairly low down with a view to get peoples faces on video , however it could be damaged or smashed off the wall as it’s fairly low down

    2) put it fairly high up the wall out of the way of someone tampering with it as easily , however more chance of filming the tops of people’s heads

And yeah I know it’s only a deterrent if someone wants to break in they’ll do it anyway , just trying to put people off in these dark winter nights

STeve, my internal one is a few inches below normal ceiling height, i.e. 7'6" above floor level. That gives a clear identification of facial feature. You could even go a bit higher. A lot might depend upon the quality of the lens though.

Can’t decide , as it’s on an outside wall that height it could easily be tampered with

But they've got to see it or know of it first and then if they do tamper with it they're already captured in DVD or Hard Drive.;)

Remember also, that they also act as a deterrent. Some scroat might case a home or garage, see the CCTV and then just move to the next prospective victim!
