Hi, I've been lurking for a while and now I'm decided on a Blade. Returning to bikes after a long time away, a lot to relearn and I hope you will all humour me. I'm 55yo and a retired engineer. My interests are as much in the engineering of the machine as riding it. So far I've just accumulated the protective kit but not actually got a bike. Cheers, Colin.

Thanks, I hope so, though you'll find I'm Captain Slow's cautious brother... Still looking at models, cant decide so far. I've had a bad back and the 04-07s seem to have a more upright position than the later bikes, maybe my imagination...

yes, been looking everywhere, though there seems a shortage of local 04-07s at the moment. Every time I see a potential it's miles away.
I can't say I had any great plan, except no kids and no divorce, plus a lot of luck = a chance to escape paid work. Odd as it may seem, it's not all I'd imagined. No structure to time, no deadlines etc, so everything takes forever! And, I go out boozing too much, hopefully the bike will force some moderation there.... I'm still looking for something that I want to do rather than had to do, if that makes sense. By the way, I've bought a RR7.
