Was looking into this the other day and thought about the actual value of the kit most of us wear e.g

    Shoei X Spirit 2 £600
    Wolf kangaroo leathers £900
    Supertech boots £300
    Back protector £100
    Rucksack £130
    Gloves £130

    Total £2160 to replace !!

MCE cover upto £500 with option to upgrade to up to £1000 !!! So that's a bit low ?

Has anyone found a better policy or had to claim before ?

I've never gone for it as if the accident is not my fault I should get the money via the other person involved. I've had 2 offs both not very big and only had minor damage to my gear,

In my case not worth it much like yourself as it will only cover a small amount.

    worst case scenario for me
    BKS leathers £1900
    lid: £300
    gloves £150
    boots £300
    back protector £150
=£2800. I never took the cover just due to my leathers let alone the rest

When I had a prang in 2009 I claimed for my kit off the House Content insurance and they paid new for old on Lid, Boots, Textile Jacket and Leather trousers. Someone had told me that as I had accidental damage cover I should see if it was covered so I rang, got confirmation that they would pay out, did the claim over the phone there and then and had the cheque inside 48 hours. Just make sure you don't exceed the max item value for anything without declaring it.

I tried that once with a helmet that was damaged when i fell over walking up some steps to my house, the home insurance sad that it was not covered under my accident policy due to it being motorcycle equipment, bike company said it was not covered because I had not been in an accident.. you cant win

I did think like Remal said that if it was not your fault that the other party you can claim it off them ... if its your fault tough do do

House insurance is a company called Groupama... been with them for a number of years now and had my last claim with them

I had a previous claim when I live up north, not sure who the insurance company was that time but they paid out without any problems too
