My Shoei XR1100 is due for replacement next year due to age and the visor has a few stone chips. What do you guys swear by? It fits me well, plus it has to have recesses for speakers for the inter phone system. I’m tempted by another Shoei but I need to try a few brands to determine fit, weight etc.

I’m going to the NEC later in the month so I’m going to try a few on. Any suggestions welcomed!

    Arai.

Although I have noticed that somehow little flies can find their way inside. That never happened with the Soei NXR

Also the visor release mechanism got a bit stuck once, when trying to change a visor. The little sliding lever somehow got derailed, and it jammed. - it was an easy enough fix once you had time to look at it, but it was a bit of a hassle when you are just getting ready to walk out of the door.

The visor can only really be lifted from one place, unlike the Shoei NXR where you seem to be able to raise the visor from anywhere as it is so rigid. The Arai one cannot really be lifted (from closed position) other than the designated place on the left forward part of the visor - especially with gloves on.

But I still love my Arais. They are class.

I'd agree with Mattie, iv an xr1100 , a nxr and an older arai viper gt lid ,
Both shoei visor mechanisms are much better than the arai but the arai is miles ahead in comfort imo

If you find Shoei comfortable you’ll probably not find the same with Arai. That was what I found anyway. Both cater for different bonce shape.

you can get a new shoei visor (which is what I did on my xr1000) as well as other spares.
NRX aka RF1200 is the evolution of mine and your.
If you are happy with the balance of your 1100, then nrx would be the safest choice but I recommend you give gt air a try.
as suggested by others, there are loads of excellent alternatives you can choose from depending on your budget and your fit

Shoei NXR. Better fit than Arai for me, bit more room between nose and visor :) Lightweight, quiet and simple visor mechanism.

3C329652-5E53-416F-9EDD-234BE45FAA59.jpeg I went from a shoei to a XLite x802rr and love it, similar fit to shoei in fact i chanced it ordering same size online, so much lighter and quality inside. Carbon looks ace in sun.
