Hi, I suspect I have a problem with sixth gear on my recently purchased CBR1000 RR5 - The transmission snatches at 20% or higher throttle openings which feels like the chain is slipping on the sprockets (revs rise and fall with a severe jerkiness in the drive chain) - I thought it was the C & S to start with as they are fairly worn and the chain was slack, but after tightening the chain and further trials I found that it only happens in sith gear - Accelerating in all the other gears is perfect at different revs but as soon as I put it in sixth I get the problem. Apart from this issue the gearbox is very quiet and all gear changes are smooth, has anyone else encountered this problem? It seems a bit unusual to me or only sixth gear to go? I've orderd a new C & S but I think I'm gonna have to pull the gearbox out and take a look - I'm glad it's the cassette type! Regards, John.
I can't help with the problem, but what a shame for your recent purchase. I hope someone hadn't set out to shaft you!
Seller said he hadn't had any problems with sixth gear, one owner from new & serviced every year, seems genuine but you never know. I'm fairly handy with the spanners so it's not the end of the world - Gearbox parts seem to be quite expensive but hopefully I can find a replacemnt gearbox cassette for sensible money.
