I see lots of Fireblades with low mileage, who has the highest mileage bike here? How many miles can you expect to get from the latest bikes? Some say only 28000 miles!! What gives out first? Should I just polish the bike and look at it at weekends?
There is a guy down this way who rides a 2003 CBR600RR and he is on 112,000 miles . He reckons all he has done is oil change every 4000 miles and new spark plugs every 8000 miles , Never looked at valve clearence etc and changed parts as they die . He told me he took it into a honda dealer a few months ago and they offered him 200 quid on a trade in ha ha ha
I kinda agree with dans post, we just sold an 07 R6, 22k on the clock, hadn't had any kind of service since 2k miles.. I'm sure the bike was happier becuase of it
oh and mines only got 8k miles on it, had it since march 2010 from new but also had a 10 month break cos of pregnancy, so not as much riding as i'd like.
They gotta be good for 100,000 . the better you look after it the less parts you have to replace but any part can be replaced so it could last for ever if you wanted i guess
8.5 k in as many months. Since new, never used for work!! My r6 had 20k in 3 years, never missed a beat!
Ive done 10k on my rr5 since july, Will soon be a high millage bike. But I bought her to ride her so who gives a shit! Im not planning on selling her. When i replace her i will just turn it into a track bike
The last blade had clocked up 155k the current owner has since put a further 30k and will not flog it back to me. My 2004 has 71k have taken it easy for the past three years ha ha.
This thead also links up with the (old) Do i run it in hard /Not at all /or as per the book.I will never know as i mainly change within 2 years ,but i do run them in as per the book plus a little!
Good going there pal.. I wish i had the time do get out on mine more often. I rode the nuts off my 600 but just don't have the time now my son is a few years older and his mother decided to F off ..
19,500 Miles My 2005 blade has done 19700 miles. I've just checked the valve clearances which haven't been done before (No evidence of valve cover being removed) All the clearances are within tolerance and the cam lobes look brand new.Even the plugs are ok. I always worry about high mileage but this bike is like new, even the exhaust is spotless. Good old Hondas eh! (I changed the plugs anyway! DOH!)
Took early retirement in 1995 aged 50 to live my dream tweeked the bike to the hilt, toured the continent visiting many of race tracks so no one could get their hands on my redundacy dosh. It was the missus who mentioned my bike looked it came out from the middle ages and that hurt so changed it in 04 when the litre job came out. Tis funny you should bring up the word legend that was a nickname give to me by the staff of M&P's
My RR5 has only done 3000 miles so I don't need to look at my valve clearance for another 16000 miles right? that could be 5 years at this rate???
Lucky bugger, its not exactly easy to get to the buggers to check them! Nice lavishing care on the old girl though.
