Do any of you guys know how to remove / dissable / bypass the HISS on rr08>?

Currently have the Red HISS light on dash aswell as yellow EM light. Engine turns over on starter but not firing. I suspect the HISS module on the key barrel as it has had an impact, but i would like to check and fault find system. any help would be handy.

I know a bit about this as have fried my ECU = no rev counter and yes, it sounds like the reader is bust - have you tried an alternate key?

Not sure if it can be fixed, but a new ECU and lockset will be about £300 - £400 from ebay, ecu and hiss key a bit less.

Be wary of US ECU's which are not fully modules

Cheers for that, so you dont know a way of removing it or disabling it? Do superstock bikes still run with a key and HISS?

Don't think so, this they run different ECU's.

I thought the superstocks ran standard ecu with PC as piggyback? Superbikes wont have standard ecu or HISS obviously.

It is very complex to remove the HISS system which is why it is so highly rated by insurers as anti theft - its pretty much impossible to start the bike without the correct key - it also explains the cost of buying an ECU and lock set.

Is it your own bike or a salvage one you have bought?

ITs just the key and ECU that are linked - so yes, buying that and your own key and ECU should get you going again - I know that as to test mine all I had to send were those two parts.

Ah rite that makes sense. So the receiver on the switch is only transmits info from Key to Ecu..

Correct, antenna just receives code from the key by request from the ECU, no code, no start!

HRC ECU does away with the HISS as far as I know.

If not, jump on eBay USA, buy a non California ECU, plug in and play.
