I need to get new insurance before the 21 February and the previous owner had a Datatool System 4 Red alarm fitted which my understanding until now was that the Honda HISS on my 2006 Blade is Thatcham Category 2 which along with the Datatool would give me a Thatcham Category 1 system although I've now read that the HISS 2 is Thatcham Cat 2.
Can you please advise me which HISS unit the 2006 Blade has?
    Cheers Paul

100% certain it is the HISS 2 unit, there is no functional difference between the 1 & 2. All the 2 has is an steel enclosed plate around the HISS unit.

The alarms are 2 to 1 units, ie the HISS is 2, adding the alarm brings it up to Thatcham 1

Cheers mate but only if you have the Honda HISS 2 seemingly but most insurance companies will allow either Honda HISS or the Datatool S4 Red which is crazy.

And in a few months time you,ll be complaining the battery is bollocked ...................it wont be the alternator /rec to blame.................junk the alarm!, I,ve yet to hear a good word about alarms on bikes. The HISS system is good and who takes any notice if a alarm is blarring away nowadays .

The insurance companies like to know that you have an alarm Haggler so it's easier to keep it on but thanks for your comment.

I don't think insurance company's are bothered tbh last quote I did was £3 different with the alarm fitted ! So I didn't bother spending £300 to get one fitted :(

A few mates recently have been charged more for having an alarm fitted on a few different companies, work that out
