I have an early 900rr and want to find out how early it is via the vin number. Does anyone know how to read the vin numbers for dating etc??

    Thanks for that.
I will have to double check. Maybe I am just being daft but from the start of the vin number, the 10th didget is the number 8 of sc28 which by the chart would indicate its a 2008 which is incorrect.

Something weird there because all Blades commence with JH2SC, meaning 'J'=Japan; 'H2'=Honda factory designated 2; 'SC59A'=CBR1000RR (my 2011); next is the security code of one letter and then the letter or number designating year.

You don't say what year yours is, but if between 1992 and 1997 for instance, you should be looking for the letter: N, P, R, S, or T.
