Have just picked up my blade. Wow what a great bike have got some toys coming soon.ie new exhaust levers etc etc.........Does anyone here Know how to remoe the pillion pegs, I've just taken off the seat and can't seem to see how? Cheers Andy
Hi Andy, remove passenger and front seats, remove rear seat unit, undo top bracket that holds the seat catch, lift out fuse box to gain access to screw under it. there is another bracket underneath(just like the seat catch bracket) that needs to be removed. you have to remove the screws that hold the under tray/cowl...these are a bit of a pain. Now you are left with just the subframe that can be seperated into two parts. undo the mounting bolts for the subframe on 1 side only, and remove that side of the subframe, remove pegs and refit that side of the subframe. Now do the same for the other side of the subframe. I have heard of people bending up the plastic carrier that holds the battery etc but I found that this wasn't easy and it felt like things were going to break. This does sound a bit daunting but when you get stuck in , it is quite easy Have fun with it and take your time
I am going to make up some plates out of Aluminium for mine so that I can easily put them back on whenever needed easily without removing half the bodywork etc Bit like these from Sato SATO RACING | CBR1000RR ('08- ) Racing Hooks
Yeah i saw those on 1000rr.net , Dont think i can face stripping the back down again. I already had my tank off to install an 02 sensor eliminator so i carried on and got the pegs off
Ha ha .. Its not that bad actually mate. No need to take the tank of, i only have it off in the pic as i done the 02 sensor eliminater at the same time. Just strip the back down slowly as described by garyauk and it should ony take an hour
You don't need to move the tank to fit the O2 sensor eliminator? (But you would have for the PC of course). andybow - now would be a good time to fit a tail tidy too btw.
For the dynojet eliminator no you don't , just reach up the side of the frame . However they would not sell me 1 with out PC-V I had to buy an eliminator from eBay that envolved disconnecting the oem connector, blanking of 2 wires then attaching the kit connector 2 the remaining wires and plugging in a resistor . It was alot Easyer with the tank off .
Sounds like a pain in the neck! You can get a DynoJet eliminator by quoting the serial number of a power commander, maybe someone else's pc
Yeah it was a pain. All done now now thou. Good info for any one looking to get an eliminator thou. I spotted a dynojet eliminator on M&P's website for 20 bucks. They are a dynojet dealer so could be genuine
Rear pillion pegs - finally removed AT LAST!! Big thanks to gary. After reading many forums i decided to go for it, taking my time and working through carefully i have finally got my rear pillion pegs off, wasn't too bad a job, took about an hour and well pleased, bike looks so much better, just the yoshi to fit now to finish it off!:tongue:
