While recently fitting my new head light units (RR8) I had a good root around in the end of the ram air tubes in the side fairings (which also been dismantled recently)
There apears to be a spring resisted flap which is raised and lowered by a thin metal arm attatched to the flap at its lower end and the little flying saucer type vacuum unit above. The vacuum unit is connected up correctly.
However with the bike not running the flaps in each tube are at differrent states of opening the one on the throttle side is higher (less open) than the one on the clutch lever side.
    Is this normal.
And after riding should they return to an equal state, closed part closed or fully open.
If not does this indicate a faulty / sticky vacuum unit in either side.
Any help or knowledge of this system would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

Remember the last time you started playing around with your bike, gear linkage, engine spacers, need I say more ;-)
There is an article somewhere on here about removing them flap, they're only there for noise reduction of the induction system.
If your worried about there start positions I think there is a section in the workshop manual on these items and how to test them.

You a can junk all that I have :D

Long screwdriver to pop the flaps, needle nose pliers for the spring, take out the vacuum pumps and gaffa tape over the holes, disconnect the leads and cannister, and follow the rubber hose back to the bottom of the air box and pull off, now tricky part is to put the little bung that's on the other side of the cannister onto the air box where you pulled the hose from.

Then bobs your uncle and flapper mod done.
