Ok I own and Audi Q7 so I should have expected bills to be a little higher. Had some Herbert in a transit fail to give way on a road narrows his side situation, totally obliterated my drivers side mirror, he also failed to stop, luckily I got the name or his company as he went past at way more than the 30 limit. I rang his company and informed them that they employed a complete twat and how did they wish to pay, insurance or private, after exchanging photos they agreed to pay privately and to forward a price. I rang Audi, go on guess how much.

Also need my wheels tracked while its there, £260, jeez, think I will go to quickfit for that one.

not bad for a mirror. My last 4x4 it was something like £300 but as it was only cracked I did not change it

I take it the £260 was for the tracking.

If it was the mirror plastic casing and glass probably 3 to 400, add another 150 if the motor was fecked.

Your forgetting the 250 too fit the new mirror lol, I sold my Audi when I got a £700 service! I looked in the boot and there was a little bag with a litre of oil a paper funnel gloves and a rag, I thought that's nice then looked at the bill and they had charged me 98 quid for it!

I paid £2.5 million for a GB sticker for my Ferrero Ghini. So nothing surprises me. Mind you, it was made out of the Turin Shroud. Hope this helps!

Mate do not get your Audi tracked at kwikfit!! Having had one myself and also knowing the sensitivities of the quattro system, it is best to have it done on a Hunter 2 alignment system by someone that knows what they are doing. So all these fastfit places are not where to go but neither does it have to be Audi as they are usually twice the price they should be. Audi use the Hunter 2 alignment system btw ;)

Could not agree more, and its the same with wheel balance, the only way I get wheel balance on my TTS that does not cause vibration is via a Hunter load force balancer working on both static and dynamic balancing planes.
If the tyres/wheels are balanced on a static balancer, it just produces miserable vibration over 80mph.

Certain Quattro models are very sensitive to both alignment and balance. TTS and S3 being 2 I can name

Think yourself lucky it’s only a mirror. My ex-wife left her Q7 running on the drive when she popped back into the house, heard a bang and ran outside to see someone leg it up the drive and her car backed into her husband’s Porsche, the git also nicked the keys...... John was away on business at the time but I would have loved to see the look his face when she called him up in America to tell him the story and that it was going to cost thousands to fix both cars and change all the locks to Q7 and the house…….oh how I laughed when the kids told me.

But it gets better, not long after it was repaired she crashed it into the back of someone in the snow……I didn’t just laugh this time I rolled about in tears, I swear a bit of pee came out.

She has a Range Rover now, and that got keyed within a month of it being delivered……the poor cow.

Karma is what I call it, now what did I do with that voodoo doll.

The answer is £754 for the mirror, fitted of course and including VAT. They have since rung back to say they cant track a Q7 its too big, like wtf.

PMSL, I own an Audi but the service backup leaves a lot to be desired.

There's a number of decent complete motors out there for less than £754, this is why not too far into the future, large numbers of perfectly good, rust free,, mechanically sound motors will become obsolete, primarily over the failure of one simple but very expensive electronic component, particularly if it has anything to do with emissions and MOTs, that will make the car uneconomical to repair.

I recently had a lonely 4x4 in an empty car park snuggle up to the Mazda a bit too close. I didn't notice quite how close until I got home and found a scratch. A scratch the width of my little finger nail and maybe 3mm high, right back to the bare metal. Tiny, I know, but it is like a poisoned splinter in my eye whenever I look at it.

So, I wandered into one of the more salubrious coachworks in Exeter, where I happen to know the workshop manager so was expecting him to smile upon me somewhat. He shook his head when I walked in, looked at it, swore under his breath and said "700 quid".

4 wheel laser geometry check on my FTO cost me around £280 odd quid. Extortionate for what they actually do. But it does make a hell of a difference when it is done though. I had mine done by Cambridge Performance Tyres.

Mate in the politest of ways I think you got ripped off there! My friend's independent VAG garage has the hunter2 and does all the local VW and audis from new for the main dealers and he wasnt even half that for my 4wheel quattro S3....

Based in Bedford if you're ever in need again ;)

Agree, stay away from any Cowboy's like quickfit or most OEM main dealers.

A Hunter Wheel Allignment specialist is the ONLY way forward.

We run a Merc E Class Sport Estate with coilover sports suspension and 19" AMG wheels, the E Class are renound for being fickle on their tracking, so much so that Mercedes had to manufacture and sell Adjustable Camber bolts that allow more precise allignment than obtainable from standard.

Cost me about £150 and I have it done every year.

See here for your nearest dealer. A lot of OEM Main Dealers sub out to Hunter specialists then dick U double or tripple for 'their' input!
