I'm thinking of doing a couple of track days this year, So how long do you think a set of tyres will last. I ride a 2004 fireblade and usually use Pirelli Diablo corsas. I'd say that I am a novice rider also.
If you're only doing a couple and you're in novice then they'll easily last you and more. I've got Corsa Rossos on my 2005 blade which are even softer and after 1 trackday in inters there's loads left for a couple more.
I have run BT023 touring tyres at roasting hot donnington, and also in 30 - 35' Pyrenees sun without a problem - cannot rate them highly enough. I've done a 2,500 mile trip to South of France and week later same bike and tyres were running in inters at Snetterton 300 circuit in sunshine and pouring rain without issue
it all depends how you ride it but on a road compound you should do something between 5-6 trackdays in novice group. you should also remember to use tyre warmers as you dont wont to get to many heath cycles into your tyres
As said depends on the tyres, weather and how you ride. I got 3 trackdays out of Dunlo; sportsmarts and 2k. The GP211's I have won't last that long as they are super sticky But if the Pirelli Diablo corsas are similar to the Sportsmarts they should last quite a while
I also ride a 2004 FireBlade, but in the inter's. I currently run Dunlop D208's .. no tyre warmers and there on there 4th trackday, plenty of life left in them. Brilliant set of tyres.
it's not the amount of tread thats left on them that will be the issue,it's more the heat cycles they go through.but it does depend on how hard your pushing aswell,a novice or steady inters rider wont be pushing the tyre to it's limits,so has plenty of room for manouvere.but if your at the top end of the inters, pushing into the fast group then i'd be a starting to think about swapping after 8-10 heat cycles* (4-5 t/days max) on a set of tyres.rears tend to wear out before the front, these last 2 days for me and 4 days a for a front (again track dependant) and making sure you use warmers throughout the day. suspension plays a huge role in tyre wear also,as does the track, conditions+pressures. *thats right at the top end of use for some people.i know lads that swap after every t/day,let alone an actuall race.
