Ok if you do it yourself then what do you use? Not thinking anyone who has their own garage as thats sort of cheating lol

I ask as I paid £25 to have wets put on for my Silverstone TD just over a week ago. It was worth every penny for the fun I had on track

But coming home I was amazed how much they want to change the wheels. and all I wanted was my road tyres put on and keep the wets. So no getting ride of the old wheels
Pro tyre who I have used wanted £15 a wheel!!! my local place that do my service ( and happy with) wanted £16.5 per wheel!!!!

Managed to find a local bike place I have used in the past to do it for £20 cash. I was happy with that

But still thinking of getting a few things so I can do it myself

So how much are you charged to change the wheels ?

I take my wheels loose to Barry & Wilkinson on Poulton Road now since my free fitting ended with the great fire at pitstop motor spares.
I admit I've used the tyre garage for years for the car, most surprised when he only charged me £10 for the front and rear including new valves and balancing.
Which took nearly an hour to do.
    £5 a wheel.

i do mine myself, and take great pleasure in the 150ish quid outlay has saved me 1000's with the amount of tyres i've changed over the last 7 yrs.

theres lots of different methods to do them your self, but ideally you'll need.

    a tyre changer/bead breaker
    soap
    brush
    weights
    balancer
    levers
    rim protecters
    valve core remover

all the sundries can be found on ebay, you can even buy pack bundles.

i'll find a link to the bead breaker,

butr as i said, some people will manage with homemade tools, just depends how handy you are, have a look on TDR theres quite a lot of info on there, including a step by step video guids of how to do it,although it's quite a rough method.

    £0 :D
I have an ABBA bead breaker, a tyre bar (the plastic coated one with wheels), and a home made balancer. I buy the weights & valves off ebay when i run out.

The exception to this rule is when I had the PR4's fitted as it was free. Handy for the track bike though.
