Had some Michelin PR3's wapped on today in place of my Dunlop Qualifier 2's. Whilst I've personaly had no issues with the Dunlops I wanted something more secure for wet weather/greasy days etc. The Dunlops have only had 450 miles on em so am going to waz em on Fleabay, question is what sort of reserve should I be looking at? Even better, anyone fancy them for a Track Bike?
Do you commute Sine? I'm looking at putting some new rubber on, but I don't want anything too wet weather bias as I don't intentionally ride in the rain anyway. I have Metzeler Racetecs at the min but they don't last 5 mins really, so looking for something longer lasting, I think it'll be Metzeler M5's.
Metzeler M5 Racetecs were a very very very, close second to the PR3's Si swears by em and if it hadn't been for the better wear rates of the PR3's and the fact they have a pretty tread pattern (Sad I know) I'd have had the Metzelers. The Qualifiers were great in the dry and probably better than either of the above on a warm dry road or track but not so good in the wet and with some Tours planned I didn't want to be tippy toeing about if me and the lads had a days ride in the rain.
Ha! You can't be a nice looking tread pattern though. I had PR2's on my last bike and I must say they offered great grip in wet and dry. One day in Germany last year it was absolutely teaming it down but we had to bat on to get to the next location, and they were great. I go away again in May and if I was to replace my K3's like for like I'd need a new set when I'm back. Lol.
