Humber Bridge to farther North

Got a week off next week so thinking of a ride to Scarborough-ish. I'm good with roads south of the Humber but little exposure to north of it.

Anyone got a good route from the Bridge to Scarborough or similar like Flamborough?

 

Head into the Yorkshire moors if you want some fantastic roads, a bit further inland but so worth the effort.

 

Straight along the A164 after the Humber Bridge, stay on A164 going straight over the roundabouts until you pass the old windmill on the left.
Look for a left turn after 1/2 mile or so after this roundabout.
Stay on this road until another roundabout 2nd exit. then 1st exit at next roundabout. (watch for unmarked police bikes and speed traps until you get well past Wetwang (yes, really, that is a place!)
Right at T junction to Wetwang, then follow sign post to Malton.
From Malton head to Pickering and either up over the moors to Whitby or hang a right in Pickering to Scarborough.
Come back from Whitby down the coast road to Scarborough, then Scarborough to Driffield.
Right at first roundabout in Driffield to pick up the A164 again.
Stay A164 until you enter Bainton - you should then recognise the T junction on your left to take you back the way you came to the bridge.

 

Was going to put exactly the same as Phil. I always go to Whitby though and loop thru Goathland ( Heartbeat) for a little stop.
There's parking in front of the bikers Whistlestop Cafe in Whitby or its nice to park up next to the whalebone arch on the Cliffs, gorgeous views.
There's also a nice biker cafe at Fridaythorpe next to Wetwang for a coffee stop.

B1257 N Yorks TT road down to Helmsley is cracking too....bit busy with crazy bikers at weekend so bit better weekdays.

 

Great Broughton to Helmsley then out to Pickering.

 

Thanks all, route planned as advised except I decided to go to Oliver's Mount rather than Scarborough seafront.

 

So let me get this right......so you don't like cyclists and you don't like bikers on the roads either ???

 

Well known syndrome Paulo, it's called "wimmin". I have one of the longest runways in the UK at the end of my garden, that's a decent ride. No cyclists, no other bikers, just a few KC 135s to dodge. Even a woman could do that...
